Overnight success stories are a curious thing.

Maybe this is because they are never really born from some quick ideas and a single moment of action, but more likely the culmination of years of dedication, tenacity and a teaspoon or so of good old fashioned ‘right place right time’ luck.

Six years after its inception, the ‘over night’ success story of Australian accessories label – Mogil, is certainly on the rise.

Having always had a penchant for design and an obsession with accessories, Mogil founder Gil Cowen, was serendipitously inspired by a trip to Bali in 2001, where her attention was taken by the extraordinary skills of local craftsmen. With a long held ambition of one day becoming both self employed and canvassing her obsession for accessories into something more than simple ideas on a page, Cowen immediately began thinking of ways she could apply the traditional hand-made aesthetic into her own range of luxury leather goods executed in simple yet sophisticated styles.
