Alice Templerley designs first collection for John Lewis

John Lewis are one of the most instantly recognisable brands on the high street, and are a name that exudes quality. They have teamed up with many top designers over the years to bring exclusive clothing collections to their customers. Their latest collaboration is with the highly respected British designer Alice Temperley, who has designed an exquisite collection for John Lewis named Somerset, after her beloved home county.

This is the first time that Temperley has ever teamed up with a name on the high street, and this event is being championed by a massive advertising campaign with top model Lily Donaldson at the helm. The collection will be arriving in 29 John Lewis stores, as well as online, on Tuesday the 4th September. The second phase of the collection, which is very much focused on party wear, will launch early in October.

The 60 piece collection, which draws inspiration from established motifs which Temperley is famed for will also contain a wide range of accessories to finish off the outfits to perfection. A vast array of influences are clearly evident in the Somerset collection, from Bohemian and Victoriana right through to prints and military elements. Traditional fabrics mix with beads, textures and sheers to create a very feminine profile.

The video released to showcase the collection is, as you would expect, is exquisite, and shows us two young girls playing dress up in their mum’s clothes. Fast forward and Lily Donaldson is one of those girls, returning to her childhood home as an adult and meeting up with her old friend.

They are dressed in pieces from the Somerset collection, which look fantastic against the backdrop of the English countryside, and this will certainly turn many heads and alert everyone to the fact that Alice Temperley is coming to a high street near you.
