Is Helen Mirren the new face of M&S?

It is reported that the legendary Dame Helen Mirren will be the new face of Marks & Spencer, after she was spotted at London’s St Katharine’s Docks last Sunday taking part in a photo shoot. The actress, aged 67, is said to have posed for photographs with Annie Leibovitz in a new campaign from the high street giant.

She was also spotted taking part in another photo operation with Leibovitz for the same brand at London’s St Katharine’s Docks, in the company of TV personality Katie Piper, who has also been featuring in the ads. The actress, known for her role in “The Queen”, will be taking her debut steps in her first fashion campaign.

The new director of Marks & Spencer, who started the brand six months ago, is taking her first series of advertisements. She is taking an effort to change the brand, after it recorded a drop in sales for the women wear. The CEO of Marks & Spencer, Marc Bolland, says that they have succeeded in forming a team that will bring out the best in M&S, using new external talent.

He goes on to say that their impact will be felt during the launch of their fall/winter 2013-14 collections in July next year. Newspapers in the UK are said to believe that the photo operation would cost the company €600,000, but it is as yet to confirm these figures.
