Lady Gaga at the Council of Fashion Designers of America

When accepting her award at the Council of Fashion Designers of America awards for top fashion icon of the year, Lady Gaga had a slight emotional moment. The style risk taker and pop star  was decked out in a wig that was turquoise and a corset by Thierry Mugler a label that is helmed by her friend Nicola Formichetti and she gave her heartfelt thanks to the crowd and fashion industry elites.

Gaga looking a bit nervous said that everyone made her feel like a star before she actually was and told the audience at the Lincoln Center that the award means a great deal to her but it means more to all the young Americans. The songstress told about how she received the text message saying she had been picked. She said she mistook Vogue editor for another friend of hers named Anna. So she responded, yes Bit** we did it.

The reply she received was How Lovely. That was followed by laughter. Also leading to laughter was the montage of Anderson Cooper’s early days of being a preteen model. The anchor on CNN is a long time friend of CFDA president von Furstenberg said he wanted to show the photos to show he had fashion credentials since he was hosting the show.

He is also the son of Gloria Vanderbilt the late jeans designer. The two standing O’s that came from the crowd went to Arthur Elgort the photographer and Marc Jacobs, designer who received the half lifetime achievement award according to director Sofia Coppola. Jacobs said that his achievements were born of passion, creativity, love and lots of hard work.
