During London Fashion Week this year Minnie Mouse is going to leave Mickey at home and demand to get some attention from the fashion world. Bunney, Piers Atkinson, Michael van der Ham, Richard Nicoll, Luke Hersheson, Lulu Guinness, Terry deHavilland, Husam el Odeh, and more are all going to present collections called ‘Minnie Mouse Must Haves’ that are garments and accessories inspired by the polka dots Minnie is known for.
Another collection by Meadham Kirchhoff will debuted at the spring/summer 2013 show although not much is known about it yet at this point. All of the pieces have been created as part of a special charity function organised with aid from eBay.
The online auction house will sell off the one-of-a-kind pieces with intent to raise money for the BFC/Bazaar Fashion Arts Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to help nurture relationships between the fashion world and the creative industries in order to create more innovation.
Vice President for Fashion and Home for the Walt Disney Company EMEA Marc Low stated that Minnie Mouse has used her very unique style to inspire fans from all over the globe. Therefore, they are glad to see some of the top names from the fashion industry create unique designs from using her silhouette, polka dots, and bows as inspiration.
Minnie Mouse has inspired the fashion world since her creation almost a century ago wither latest contribution to the world being a range of OPI nail varnishes inspired by her red polka dots. Disney already is set to have a big month as they will be taking over Harrords to celebrate Disney Princess dresses created by top names in fashion such as Oscar de la Renta, Valentino, and Versace.
