Scottish Fashion Designer of the Year 2011

Scotland’s biggest city was descended upon by fashionistas, top models and designers last night for the Oscars of the Scottish fashion calendar. As Ambassador to the British Fashion Council Samantha Cameron was present and presented the top award, Scottish Fashion Designer of the Year 2011 that went to Jonathan Saunders.

Dame Shirley Bassey and Lulu were there and Bassey wore a tartan dress accessorized with a beautiful sporran shaped handbag. Winners included Annie Lennox’s daughter Tali Lennox who won Scottish Model of the Year and Freya Mayor, Skins actress who receive the Scottish Fashion Icon award.

Mrs. Cameron was in a lime green dress by Christopher Kane a Scottish designer and she said she was thrilled to be in Glasgow at the awards as Ambassador to the British Fashion Council. The awards she said celebrate the very best in Scottish Fashion and let us know that Scotland is home a very important textile industry and some very inspirational designer as well.

The other fashion world greats that graced the red carpet included David Gandy the supermodel and Dolce & Gabbana campaign star, Louis Linton, the Scottish actress and Derek Warburton the celebrity stylist based in New York.

Henry Holland was there as well and won the International Designer of the Year and photographer Rankin was on hand to receive a Hall of Fame award.  Scottish Textile Brand of the Year went to Harris Tweed Hebrides and the Scottish Young Designer of the Year was won by Henrietta Ludgate.
