Student aiming to be next UK supermodel

A student in the UK is hoping to become the first British black, plus sized, supermodel. Philomena Kwao has always been excellent academically and now she hopes to be the first model in the UK with these attributes. She is 22 years old and has recently won the contest that has been run by Style369.com and Models 1, in collaboration with the plus size clothing brand, Evans.

She has appeared in many fashion magazines since winning the competition and she was recently involved in a beach shoot that has been featured in the latest issue of Cosmopolitan magazine. The photo shoot took place in Miami and the model shows off her striking looks in a range of beachwear designed for larger people.

She is a size 16 and comes from Kent and she has been studying on how to model clothes for larger women by following some of the best in the industry including Tara Lynn and Crystal Renn. Since winning the competition she has been signed with a special division of Models 1 which is working with larger women.

This special branch of the company has been called Excel and it is rather different to the normal model company which has a reputation for hiring very thin women. This is not the first time that Miss Kwao has been involved with fashion and she won a competition where she was crowned Miss Ghana UK.

The model first completed a degree from Bristol University in economics, where she achieved first class honours. She is currently studying a Masters programme at Imperial College in international health. The director of Cosmopolitan magazine in the UK has commented, “She is a wonderful model, with an incredible body and face. She is also very professional and has a very driven attitude about her work and career.”
