The vintage collection from Lyle & Scott for the Autumn/ Winter 2011
The vintage collection from Lyle & Scott for the Autumn/ Winter 2011 season has taken yet another giant step forward, proving that fashion pieces for the confident and modern consumer can remain true to the rich history of the brand. This range has taken inspiration from preppy, rugged and outdoor themes to create an ultimate winder wardrobe that is also an urban, contemporary armour.
Also new for this season are two completely revamped versions of their famous logo. Alongside the famous golden eagle there is now a debossed leather square bearing the brand and also a woven patch that successfully gives the collection a collegiate feel. These logos appear on the pockets, sleeves or chests of the garments.
Colour and utility are two major considerations that have gone into the heavyweight outerwear. A multi pocketed mountain parka is the ultimate functional winter outerwear, while the light brown cotton canvas jacket is in a hunting style and better suited to a milder climate
The cotton twill mac in a classic style offers a more traditional alternative, and the cosy woollen duffle coat comes in both charcoal marls and navy. The outerwear range had two other key colours, which are Woodland Green and Cranberry, and there is also a gilet and hooded jacket set that comes in a stylish green and navy plaid.
Invariably, the heart of the whole collection is the knitwear. Fair Isle knits and Nordic patterns keep well within the theme of the rugged, outdoor theme. A Fair Isle crew necked jumper in a contrasting pink and navy is a modern update on an essential classic, while the preppy tank top takes a more traditional stance.
Other items in the Lyle & Scott knitwear range includes zip throughs, v necks, shawl collars, turtle necks and cardigans. These come is rich and seasonal palette of khaki, burnt orange, Admiral blue and grey marl.
Winter polos and tees offer yet more shots of bold colour and winter hues. Standout pieces include the very seasonal charcoal snowflake polo and the bold and daring jacquard check polo shirts, adorned with the preppy woven patch. Long and short sleeve shirts in variations of plaid and gingham move the outdoor theme forward as do wool shirts in bright red, charcoal marl and Fjord blue.
Trousers come equipped for the winter in hard wearing fabrics, including denim for the first time. Equally stylish is a corduroy jean, with a cotton twill chino providing a more lightweight alternative. The colour palette for trousers includes light chambray, light brown, navy, Hunter green and port.
Another area of development for the Vintage collection lies in accessories. Back for a second season is the range of fine cotton socks, with a Fairisle and fleck knit an addition to the bold block colours and stripes. A plethora of beanies, bobble hats, hunter caps and scarves in check, stripes, block colours and Fairisle come with all three logo options. The bag offer is also extended to include flight bags, helmut bags and briefcases and AW11 sees the introduction of cotton and woven belts.
Footwear too welcomes some new arrivals with a suede brogue in either sand or slate, a mid top raised sole boot in burnt amber and dark brown and a semi oiled leather moccasin in black and oxblood. Canvas and calf leather trainers come in earthy tones and are brightened up with shots of bright colour. A classic suede desert boot completes the offer.
