Wardrobe Revival: Autumnal Essentials for the Kids

It can often feel like, no sooner do we say hello to summer, do we have to say goodbye once more as autumn starts to settle in. The warmer weeks pass by far too quickly, and before you know it, you’ll be swapping the sandals and spaghetti strap tops for jumpers, jeans and boots.

The autumn/winter season clothes are starting to make their way into stores, so it’s a perfect time to stock up on some of the essentials that your kids are going to need to get them through the colder months. Chances are they will have grown out of last year’s threads, so some new kit will be needed. Take a look at some of these autumn essentials for kids of all ages, for inspiration.

Older Girls

George girl’s hoodies are a great place to start for both older and younger girls. Hoodies are a fantastic piece of clothing that you can just sling on when it’s a little chilly and add a sleeved element to the outfit without having to go as far as a jacket when it’s not necessary.

When the colder weather does set in, a decent coat or jacket will be crucial. Something that is waterproof, for rainy days, will be ideal.

A pair of boots that aren’t just fashionable but practical as well would also come in handy. The last thing that anyone needs is cold feet when they’re out and about. Check with school to see if girls are able to wear boots when it’s cold outside, too.

Older Boys

Depending on what your lad is into, a pair of jogging bottoms and a funky hoody are often all that he needs during the autumn months.

If they’re not really a ‘trackie’ type, a couple of pairs of jeans would be ideal for the autumn months, which they can wear with some hi-tops and a cardigan or jumper.

Younger Girls

While little girls will always look fabulous in dresses, the weather in the autumn often calls for a couple of layers. Some cutesy cardigans which complement their dresses would be ideal, while a jacket or coat can be added when the weather takes a turn for the worse.

Similarly, a shrug for their shoulders, and some gorgeous tights in bright and bold colours, will look amazing with most skirts and dresses.

Denim jackets on little girls (as well as older ones) look super fashionable, too.

Younger Boys

Hoodies will look cool on little boys. Team with a pair of jeans and a pair of wellies and they’ll be dressed perfectly for muddy adventures.

If you need another layer, but don’t want them to swelter in a winter coat just yet, a padded bodywarmer would be perfect.

Babies

Once we’re into the autumn, you can start thinking about kitting your baby out in a pramsuit for when they’re out and about.
